If you love riding four-wheelers and want to share the fun experience with your friends, you should be pleased to know that there are 2 person ATV models. These models are called two-up ATVs and they can comfortably fit two people.

The best 2 person ATV is the Polaris Sportsman Touring XP 1000. This is a premium two-up ATV that is fueled by a massive 952cc engine that delivers 88 horsepower. Polaris Sportsman Touring XP 1000 uses automatic transmission and a high-end suspension system that ensures the rider and passenger will have a smooth experience, even when riding on rugged terrains. The two-up ATV offers comfortable seating for 2 people and the seat height is located 35.75 inches. If the beast of an engine that the Polaris Sportsman Touring XP 1000 offers is too much, you can always go for the runner-ups: Can-Am Outlander Max XT and the Arctic Cat TRV 700i.

The four-wheeler comes with a bundle of useful features such as electronic power steering, automatic transmission, and an all-wheel drive system. The ATV uses 27-inch tires and can pull up to 3,500 lbs with a winch. I also want to mention that the two-person seating of the ATV is designed for safety. #2 Can-Am Outlander Max XT

As a long-time ATV fan, I have to give praise to Can-Am for building some of the market’s best four-wheelers. For example, the company makes some of the best ATVs under $5,000 while also having a top spot on my list of the best automatic ATVs. With that said, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Can-Am Outlander Max XT is one of the best 2 person ATVs on the market. You will find a powerful v-twin 650cc engine under its hood that delivers 62 HP. While 62 HP might not sound that impressive when compared to the engine of a car, you should take into consideration that the Can-Am Outlander Max XT weighs in at around 900 lbs.

The engine is paired with an electronic fuel injection system and 2WD/4WD driving modes to deliver the best performance possible. That’s not all. Riding the Can-Am Outlander Max XT is an enjoyable experience thanks to cool features such as the tri-mode dynamic power steering and auto-locking front differentials. Furthermore, the four-wheeler is equipped with two-person seating options. What’s cool about this model is the fact that the seating uses a convertible rack system. Therefore, you can choose to have a single seat and more space for luggage in case you are riding solo.

Top Features:

  • A powerful v-twin 650cc engine that delivers 62 HP;
  • 2WD and 4WD driving modes that use an auto-locking front differential;
  • Intelligent throttle control fuel system that is paired with electronic fuel injection;
  • A convertible rack system for the two-person seating;

#3 Arctic Cat TRV 700i

If there is one thing everyone loves about Arctic Cat’s ATVs, it has to be the fact that they all feature gorgeous designs. The Arctic Cat TRV 700i is not an exception to that rule, shipping with a sporty design that is available in multiple color options (green being the most iconic one). One of the main features that make this model a great choice for people who want to buy a two-person ATV is the comfortable seating design. Both the rider’s and passenger’s seats are designed with comfort in mind. Since I am talking about comfort, I need to highlight that the suspension system is equipped with shock absorbers on both the front and rear sides.

The four-wheeler is equipped with a 696cc liquid-cooled engine that puts out 46.3 HP. This is quite impressive, especially when considering that the Arctic Cat TRV 700i features a tow capacity of 1,050 lbs. Some other important features that you will grow to appreciate are the electronic power steering, passenger backrest, and rack system that can be used to carry luggage or other ATV accessories. I should also mention that the four-wheeler uses an automatic transmission system with a centrifugal clutch. This makes riding Arctic Cat TRV 700i a pleasant experience since you don’t have to worry about switching gears.

The Budget Option for the Best 2 Person ATVs

While the Polaris Sportsman Touring XP 1000, CAN-AM Outlander Max XT, and the Arctic Cat TRV 700i might be my favorite 2 person ATVs, I can’t overlook the fact that they are quite expensive. I know that people who are planning to purchase their first two-up ATV are not looking to spend a fortune, and this is why I have also prepared a budget version of the best 2 person ATV on the market.

Sidenote: Buying a used ATV is a great way to get a better deal. However, it can be tricky if you don’t know what to look for and end up buying a used two-up ATV that requires a small fortune in repairs. I recommend checking out my guide on how to determine high mileage for ATVs and UTVs so that you can avoid any bad deals.

The CF Moto CFORCE 600 Touring

While CF Moto might not an iconic brand like Polaris or Can-Am, I assure you that this company still makes amazing four-wheelers that offer adrenaline-fueled experiences. In my opinion, the CF Moto CFORCE 600 Touring is the best budget option 2 person ATV. The retail price for this two-up ATV is $6,699. For this price tag, you will receive access to a bundle of premium features such as electronic power steering, 2,500 lbs winch, rear & front cargo compartments, and even USB ports to charge your digital devices such as smartphones or GoPro cameras.

What I really like about this CF Moto CFORCE 600 Touring is the fact that it comes with an ergonomic passenger seat that features a sewn cover for additional comfort. The passenger will feel safe and comfortable when riding on the quad. Some other highlight features that make the CF Moto CFORCE 600 Touring a great choice are 12-inch alloy wheels, automatic transmission with engine braking, and an impressive ground clearance of 10.6-inches that ensures you can ride over any obstacle. I should also mention that the ATV is fueled by a 580cc engine and that it has a fuel capacity of 4.2 gallons.

Top Features

  • A more budget-friendly price tag;
  • Ergonomic passenger seating with a sewn cover;
  • 2,500 lbs winch;
  • Rear & front cargo compartments that are weather proof;
  • Electronic power steering;
  • 580cc engine;
  • USB ports;
  • Automatic transmission with engine braking.

Do You Need a Two Person ATV?

Do you plan on riding with passengers? If your answer is yes, then yeah, you need a two person ATV. Even though you could try and fit two people on a regular ATV, this is neither comfortable nor safe. The passenger will not have stability, and they might fall off. Considering that people usually ride their ATVs on bumpy roads, the passenger needs to have something to hold on to. This is why I advise people to ride solo on regular ATVs and only bring passengers along for the ride on two-up ATVs.

Final Thoughts

Getting a two-up ATV is always a great decision. You will have enough space to carry a friend on your offroad adventures, which always makes the experience more fun. Even if your friend can’t make it and you will ride solo, doing it on a two person ATV is good because you will have more cargo space than everyone else. You can carry all your belongings and still sit comfortably on your seat. Hands down, the best two person ATV is the Polaris Sportsman Touring XP 1000, but the price tag is quite high. This is why you might want a more budget-friendly option for your first ATV by choosing a model like the CF Moto CFORCE 600 Touring.
